2004 Rising Star Scholarship Recipients
<p>It gives us great pleasure to announce that the Peter Bloeme Rising Star
Scholarship recipients for 2004 are Tracy Custer, Craig Rogers, Tom
Clements, Sabine Bruns and Ron/Amy King.</p>
<p>As many of you are aware, Hyperflite announced at the 2004 Hyperflite
Skyhoundz World Championship banquet, the creation of the “Peter Bloeme
Rising Star Canine Disc Scholarship Program.”</p>
<p>This Hyperflite-sponsored program was established to recognize and thank
individuals who have gone above and beyond in helping others enjoy the
benefits of canine disc play, as well as to assist individuals who, despite
difficult circumstances, enthusiastically participate in our sport because
their dogs love it so much. Rising Star Scholarships are also awarded to
individuals who have adopted shelter or rescue canines or endured hardships,
financial or otherwise, in order to save and rehabilitate canines and turn
them into disc dogs. Hyperflite received nominations from the disc dog
community and our selection committee reviewed and recommended individuals
for scholarships.</p>
<p>Initially, we indicated that three Rising Star Scholarships were to have
been awarded. However, our selection committee suggested that we give five
scholarships this year (to make their job easier), and we concurred with
their recommendation.</p>
<p>Each scholarship will include Peter Bloeme¹s training and throwing videos
along with 200 canine Competition Standard discs, 15 Jawz puncture resistant
discs, and Hyperflite apparel. Entry fees for all Hyperflite Regional or
Hyperflite DiscDogathon events will be waived for Rising Star Scholarship
recipients for the competitive season following the award of a Peter Bloeme
Rising Star Scholarship.</p>
<p>On behalf of Hyperflite, we salute our Rising Star Scholarship recipients
for their efforts and thank them for their contributions to canine disc
sports and to canine welfare.</p>
<p>At Hyperflite headquarters, a plaque will be maintained that lists each
Peter Bloeme Rising Star Scholarship recipient.</p>
<p>Finally, our sincere thanks to all of the kind souls who nominated their
fellow canine disc aficionados for Rising Star Scholarship awards.</p>
