Competition Hosting Overview

The Hyperflite Skyhoundz Series is the largest disc dog competition series in the world and represents canine entertainment at its finest. This year’s stable of Skyhoundz Canine Disc Competitions available to your organization includes Local Championships, State Championships, Classic Qualifiers, European Classic Championship, DiscDogathon Qualifiers, European DiscDogathon Championship, Xtreme Distance Qualifiers, and European Xtreme Distance Championship.

Skyhoundz provides discs, rules, registration forms/scoresheets, and awards while the host provides a properly marked field, sound system, and officials/judges to run the event.

The Skyhoundz website is the best source for the most current version of Skyhoundz rules as it is a dynamic and easily updatable source of information. Rules and formats do change from time to time and competitors and Organizers are encouraged to review the Skyhoundz rules prior to any competition.

In order to allow competitors enough time to make scheduling and traveling arrangements, Competition Hosts must register to conduct events with Skyhoundz a minimum of 30 days in advance and are only permitted to host one qualifier, of each type, per weekend. For example, a host could host up to one DiscDogathon, one Skyhoundz Classic, and one Xtreme Distance event in the same weekend.

We leave it entirely up to our host organizations which additional sponsors they wish to include in their Skyhoundz events, but Hyperflite must be recognized as the official canine disc sponsor at all Skyhoundz competitions. Hosts or sponsors at our competitions are not permitted to provide competitors or spectators with the discs of other canine disc manufacturers. Should any of your sponsors wish to give away promotional discs at a Skyhoundz event, they should contact us and we will be happy to offer them competitive pricing on custom discs that bear their logos.

At all Skyhoundz competitions competitors are required to use genuine Hyperflite discs. This change will ensure that the Skyhoundz Series will be around for future generations of canine disc enthusiasts to enjoy. Specific Skyhoundz disc-use rules can be found on the Event Rules tab in the Competition section of the Skyhoundz website.

While Skyhoundz event hosts are permitted to add additional Division/Class/Contests the day of their Skyhoundz events ie: Novice, Masters, Roller, etc., they are not permitted to hold any Division/Class/Contests which use non-Hyperflite discs.

Before you request to host a Skyhoundz competition, please visit the Competition tab here and read the specifics of the types of events we offer.

In order to make sure that competitors have an opportunity to make plans for, and attend our World Championship, we have determined that no Qualifiers should be held less than one month before our World Championship other than the Last Chance Qualifiers. To calculate the last weekend, a Qualifier may be held for the current year’s World Championship, take the date of the Last Chance Qualifier, and go back five weekends. That weekend is the last one that a Qualifier may be held on.

Additionally, in order to allow competitors enough time to make scheduling and traveling arrangements, Competition Hosts must register to conduct events with Skyhoundz a minimum of 30 days in advance.

Important Note For International Hosts: Depending on your experience level, you may be required to have a Skyhoundz representative oversee your event. The Skyhoundz representative will be available to assist you by serving as the Chief Judge of your Qualifier and by providing his or her services for free if you choose to host a disc dog clinic on the day before your International Qualifier. You may charge for this clinic, and retain all of the proceeds of any clinic to offset the expenses associated with staging your International Qualifier. In the event that a Skyhoundz representative is required, any travel expenses (including airfare, local travel, hotel, and meals) will be the responsibility of the international host.
