2025 World Championship Wrap-Up

How things have changed…

For those newer to the sport who may not know its history, when Jeff Perry & Gilbert (1989) and I, Peter Bloeme, & Wizard (1984) won our World Championships, the landscape looked very different. There was only one competition series, one division, 12 U.S. finalists (two from each of six regions), and the entire World Championship wrapped up in about three hours.

Since then, Skyhoundz has helped introduce new events, divisions, and classes in competition, while Hyperflite has introduced an assortment of disc types, sizes, and formulations. The sport has grown tremendously, with multiple competition series, disc companies, and countless new enthusiasts joining the community.

This past week, Skyhoundz hosted three competition series in one week—with nearly 200 competitors, more than 1,000 competitive entries, and international teams in the mix!

While we’re proud of our contributions to the sport, none of this would be possible without your love for your dogs and the dedication of Skyhoundz Qualifier hosts throughout the season. Thank you!

And a very special thanks goes out to the incredible volunteers who made the LCQ/WC possible. Their time, energy, commitment, and love for the sport created an unforgettable experience for all. Here are just some of them (with many more who pitched in as well):

Jeff Bergquist, Wesley Bloeme, Criss Brown, Kurt Brown, Scott Crump, Elaina Davis, Melissa Eckerman, Jack Fahle, George Freeman, Laura Guadarrama, Olivia Guadarrama, Linda Gray, Jeff Hill, Scott Jones, Mark Kang, Jeff Love, Tracy Love, Ray Lowman, Frank Montgomery, Blake Kilbourne, Candie Kilbourne, Sam Marion, Mark Jennings, Alex Lee, Gabriella Lerma, Birgit Locklear, Chuck Locklear, Mike Miller, Aura Moreno, Andrea Morrissette, Octavio Marin Palma, Saeun Park, Todd Queen, Mark Reinhold, Crystal Repko, Matt Repko, Jason Rigler, Jackie Rodeffer-Scheetz, Gaston Siegel, Tony Simcic, Carla Swainston, Swanee Swainston, Greg Walcutt, Nancy Walcutt, Dean Werts, Mary Denise Williamson, and Brad Zeigler.

🙌 THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!

Looking ahead, we’ll continue striving to improve and provide more opportunities for you to compete and enjoy time with your dogs. A few reminders as we move forward:

• In competition, remember there are Youth competitors and families in the audience. No matter the frustration of a missed throw or catch, profanity on the field is never appropriate.
• For competition hosts: it’s your responsibility to publish and promote your events so that every team has the chance to participate.

We are currently working on securing dates for next year’s Last Chance Qualifiers/World Championships and will let you know as soon as they are confirmed!

In years past, the season ended with the World Championship and picked back up in the spring. Now, the next season is already underway. Good luck to all—we look forward to seeing you and your dogs again soon! 🐾
